John 5:18-25

Jesus Is Equal with God

18This was why the Jews awere seeking all the more to kill him, bbecause not only was he cbreaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God dhis own Father, emaking himself equal with God.

The Authority of the Son

19So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, fthe Son gcan do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father ▼

 does, that the Son does likewise. 20For ithe Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And jgreater works than these will he show him, so that kyou may marvel. 21For as the Father lraises the dead and mgives them life, so nalso the Son gives life oto whom he will. 22 pFor the Father judges no one, but qhas given all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son, just as they rhonor the Father. sWhoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24Truly, truly, I say to you, twhoever hears my word and ubelieves him who sent me has eternal life. He vdoes not come into judgment, but whas passed from death to life.
